FalconMail has run in the browser since launch. The desktop app is the same mailbox in a native Windows window, which matters more than it sounds for the organisations that use it: no tab lost among thirty others, no session dropped when the browser is restarted, and file sharing that behaves like part of the operating system rather than a web upload form.
The app covers:
- Mail with the full folder tree, threading, and search across the mailbox
- File sharing up to 2 GB per file, with links that expire on a schedule you set
- One window for both, so sending a large file to a client does not mean switching to a separate transfer service

Why a desktop app rather than a browser tab
The organisations running FalconMail are law firms, clinics, financial institutions, and government suppliers. Two practical complaints came up repeatedly.
The first was file transfer. Mail attachment limits sit around 25 MB almost everywhere, so anything larger goes through WeTransfer, Google Drive, or a personal Dropbox. For a firm that chose FalconMail specifically to keep correspondence out of foreign platforms, routing the actual documents through one of those platforms defeats the point. Sharing up to 2 GB with expiring links, inside the same app as the mailbox, closes that gap.
The second was simply presence. A desktop app sits in the taskbar and starts with Windows. A browser tab does not.
What it does not change
The security model is unchanged. Zero-access encryption still means message content is not readable by us, and the same recovery trade described in our email hosting guide still applies: no operator-held master key means no operator-led recovery. The desktop app is a client, not a different service.

You need an existing FalconMail mailbox to sign in. If you do not have one, FalconMail runs at email.louis-innovations.com, and we set up mailboxes on your own domain.
